Tra i più insigni, si ricordano l’inglese Edward Lear, che lo visitò nel 1847 e la scrittrice Milena Milani che nel 1989 gli dedicò un appassionato articolo sulla rivista Bell’Italia.

Il borgo antico di Siderno presenta edifici di antico splendore e una struttura urbanistica tipica di tutti i paesi dell’entroterra della Locride, con viuzze strette e piccoli balconi. Nei secoli XVII-XVIII a Siderno Superiore furono edificati palazzi padronali di grande interesse architettonico e Chiese che nelle loro linee di costruzione sopravvissute ai restauri, richiamano il barocco meridionale.

Dalla balconata di piazza San Nicola si può ammirare un suggestivo panorama con vista fino al mare e ai piedi della piazza è stato realizzato un anfiteatro dove nella stagione estiva vengono rappresentati spettacoli musicali e opere teatrali. Ancora oggi si percorre nel borgo una strada il cui tracciato, che divide il territorio in due parti, risale all’epoca tardo-romana. In qualche tratto sono visibili poveri resti delle mura di cinta della Siderno del XVI secolo.
